Unknown Knowledge
'The Burden of your Past' was similar to the words Soleil had heard before: '…release this burden of your life…' Words remembered from an old memory, which made these words part of her past. That was understood, but Soleil could not comprehend how this 'being' was connected to her. She did not know what to say, nor what to do. She stood rigid on the spot, waiting for the thing to speak. Slowly, despair began to crawl into her heart. Her head began to spin wildly out of control; her eyesight grew short and dim. The spinning became more painful; soon changing to agony. Every inch of her body was being drained of life and energy, but she did not, and could not know this. The being did not speak.
Soon the world around her became dark. She was falling through a dead, choking abyss. No noise. No pain. No-anything. The same white trees surrounded Soleil; those from her dream. This time though, they became too realistic. She could almost touch them. Fear began to harden its grip. Leil's body, by now, was as cold as ice. Her heart, however, was warm. It was strong; calling it was. Soon, the voice rung loud and clear, It brought Soleil back to her body. 'It', was powerful.
'Hello~o?! Are you just going to let him use you like that?! Like trash? Come on, Leil! You're better than dirt, right?  Or do you need us to do everything for you now? Well guess what, sweetie! It aint gonna happen!'
'Will-you-be-quiet? You're giving her a headache.'
A male's voice. It was deep, but soft. It contrasted with the sharp, business-like voice of the woman. The man however, was not wrong. Indeed, Soleil was lying on the pavement with a large headache. The rebukes from the anonymous woman were not the main cause of her pain. Leil could feel her strength returning by the minute, but even so, she was terribly exhausted. Attempting to open her eyes, even a little, took most of her energy. Her eyesight was blurry, but soon it began to focus on a pair of very high, sky blue high heels. The toes were clearly visible; they were painted in a rich, dark purple shade. Leil could hear the bold voice of their owner, but from then on, only a few words were understood by her brain. A roar of some large feline silenced the argument.
'Fine. Whatever. Hey, well would you look at that!'
The woman bent down very low, looking straight into Soleil's eyes. They grew wider with pleasant surprise.
'She's awake!'
Leil may have been unable to hear, but here eyesight was clear. The woman's eyes were the first that caught her eye. They were large and in the shade: electric yellow. The pupils were those of a cat-or rather-those of a snake. The seemed almost untamed. Almost inhuman. The woman's skin was slightly paler than her own, with her hair being blue, thick and spiky. Even though her hair was spiky, it was long, and had beautiful locks at the end. The blue hair glimmered and shone in the upcoming sun. She appeared to be human. The genuine smile from this lady convinced Soleil that she was here to aid her-human or no.  The young woman stood up and began walking away from her. Slight panic entered Leil's head, but soon left, for she was carefully lifted from the ground by a man. She guessed that this was the same person from whom she had heard the deep voice. Liel could not see his face, as her neck and head refused to move, but she saw that the man was young and well built. He was slightly darker than her and appeared tall. He walked swiftly-to him, she was light. This reassured Leil, who always feared being carried in case she was too heavy. This fear was soon removed. Once gone, it never came back.
Soleil's vision was restricted by the man's body and the inability to rotate her neck, but it looked like they were heading in the direction in which she had come. The 'Being' was nowhere to be seen. Nor could she feel its spiritual pressure. Many questions were unanswered- 'how do they know the way? Who are they? Are they even human?' she could not give voice to her thoughts- she lacked the strength. Whether it was her imagination, she saw a blurry white, four-legged animal run past them. It must have been large. At least, she thought so.

--

The day was drawing to a close; the rays of the sunset ahd finally awakened Soleil. She still fell quite weak, but she could move, and this greatly warmed her. Leil understood it was sunset, however, everything else was blurred, as if in a dream. She glided from one room to another, pondering the things that had happened that day. While walking down a long corridor, she entered a room in which a person was in, but she was unaware.
'Well, Soleil! I'm glad you're awake. How do you feel?'
Leil spun around; startled at the voice that shattered the surrounding silence. She tried to piece together and answer, but the questions: there were too many of them.
'I…they were…the Being-fine…fine…'
A look of concern could be clearly seen on Kariya's face. Leil sometimes wondered if he could read her mind, or anyone's mind for that matter, for he answered her questions very precisely.
'A young man and woman did indeed, bring you back here this morning. They were followed by a large feline. It was no dream.
He hesitated.
'They were not human. How, do you know them, Leil?'
This statement shocked Soleil. Although, she did expect it.
'I don't know them. What makes you think I do?'
'…they said so.'
'What?!'
'They told me, along with everyone else that you lot were "the best of friends"; that you have "been together for a very long time"-'
'What the hell are they chatting?! I never-' she gasped.
She had never spoken in such a manner before.
'I just-'
'-spoke like her. You are, somehow connected to them.'
A deep silence followed. Soleil was too confused; too flustered to do anything. Kariya made the next move.
'Come now, sit down.'
As soon as he sat her down in the arm chair, she jumped straight back up and walked there and back across the length of the room, next to the large windows.
'I'm not connected in any way to them! I am myself-me! No one else! Understand?! Huh, enough of that. There's something else.'
She placed her palm onto the glass, turning her head to see her own reflection in it.
'That…thing. That Being, Kariya! What was Jin? I couldn't do anything. I just…I-'
Quiet sobbing could be heard. At this, Kariya walked down the room towards Soleil and sat on the sofa which was next to her. There was a silence, in which only her soft crying was heard. Still in thought, Kariya began to speak: 'did he say anything in particular…a name perhaps?'
'…the Burden of my Past. The Burden of Truth.'
'Look into your own past-'
'Which part of my past Jin?! I always had problems, if that is what he means by burdens. It's been so many years…I don't know where to look!'
'Calm down Soleil! You cannot think straight if you're angry-'
'-confused-'
'-many feelings mixed up all together. Alright then.'
He stood up, and walked towards a small, richly decorated, brown table. From it's drawer, he retrieved a slim book. He opened it, as if reading it.
'Look into your past, the memories without, me. There were, fewer lies back then-if that is what he actually ment by "Burden of Truth".'
'So many years, Kariya! Hmmm…there was that man who you saved me from, remember? Always wanting to kill me for no apparent reason-'
'That man had a reason. You stole from him-'
'-yeah, but does that really mean I deserve a death sentence? It's not like I stole something precious-'
'-or did you?'
'Look, I don't remember! Give me some time…'
Diving deep into her own past for one section of it, was the equivalent of a person searching for one book in a library as big as the mansion; up to the ceiling with books. Soleil was gifted in remembering everything that ever happened. She sometimes questioned the gift, if in fact, it was nothing but a curse, since some memories she'd rather not recollect because of how terrible they were. Most were-at the very least-pleasant.
'That man…he was but a human…'
